Tuff Clad Pte Ltd (the Tuffi Group) was started in 1974 by the Shu Brothers, Sunny and Robert Shu, when they obtained the Tuff-Kote Dinol franchise to offer rust protection for cars in Singapore.
The sound and effective marketing strategies adopted by the Shu Brothers saw this rust proofing business growing at a compound rate of 100% per year. By 1975 Tuffi’s territories expanded to include Indonesia and Thailand, followed by Malaysia and Brunei.
Quite a remarkable achievement within 4 years of obtaining the first franchise.
To keep the local and overseas businesses separate, Tuffi Pte Ltd was set up to manage the overseas operations. Country distributors were appointed to operate the Tuff-Kote Dinol centres. Tuffi also provide support in the areas of marketing, technical and sales training of the Tuff Kote Dinol centres.
For the past 40 years, the Shu Brothers and Dinol AB, the manufacturer of Dinitrol and Tuff-Kote Dinol products have developed very close and mutually beneficial relationships.
When Dinol AB was taken over by EMS-TOGO AG, Tuffi’s range of products expanded to include Direct Glazing PU products and this enabled Tuffi to capture a bigger market share in the Automotive Aftermarket industry.
With the acquisition of PYRMO GmbH by Dinol AB, Tuffi’s product range was further enhanced to include cleaners, fillers, polishers, etc.
Tuffi’s business in Singapore has evolved over the years to provide a complete car care solution to not only car owners, but the car distributors/agents as well. Tuffi’s services include pre-delivery inspection works, anti corrosion and sound dampening, special corrosion resistant linings and specialised coatings to (special application-vehicles) namely, military vehicles, fire engines, offshore vehicles, forklifts, garbage trucks, etc. Besides this, it also offers corrosion prevention programs for military trucks specials vehicles, offshore vehicle, etc.
Our expanded automotive activities now include Solar Film, Paint Protection, Body Kits, Windscreen and Glass replacement for insurance companies such as NTUC Income, AXA, Tokio Marine, and Allied World Insurance Company.
Tuffi-IMD Pte Ltd was established in 1994 to manufacture leather upholstery for cars. Today, we are one of the major players in the market supplying products and services to importers of Hyundai, VW, Nissan, Subaru, Toyota, Seat etc. Our range of products include leather upholstery, parts and trims for automotive interior, leather wraps for steering wheels, and gear knob, door trims, console panels, roof linings. We also supply PVC upholstery to commercial vehicles, taxis, forklifts, golf carts, etc.
Taiwan
In 1979, Tuffi was listed by Tuff-Kote Dinol headquarters to take over their operations in Taiwan. Under the helm of the Shu Brothers, Tuff-Kote Dinol Taiwan’s business expanded to include the rust proofing business at Car Manufacturer level, supplying semi-automatic equipment to Yue Loong (Nissan cars), Ford Lio Ho and in recent years, Ching Chung Motor (VW). In addition, our Taiwan office is rustproofing Mitsubishi cars at Mitsubishi PDI Centre.
Currently, Tuff Kote (Taiwan) continues to be strong in the anti-corrosion activities at the OEM and after market level, PDI centres.
Tuff Kote (Taiwan) also represents McGhean-Rohco, the manufacturer of Cee Bee chemical products for the aviation industry supplying products to Air Asia Co. Ltd, Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd, China Airline Ltd, Far Eastern Air Transport Corp, Evergreen Aviation Technologies Group and the Military.
Xiamen
Tuff Kote (Xiamen) was formed in 1981 to do the Dinol business and currently our activities include supply of Dinol products to car workshop operators, car agents and manufacturers of cars, bus and trucks. Due to the vast geographical size of china, our activities are centred around distributing the products rather than application. We provide marketing and training on our product application, equipments, tools and application techniques to our customers.
